A classic Nusantara piece, this full length Batik Wiron Skirt is constructed with a partially elastic waistband, back zip and hook. It is fully lined.

There is an art and philosophy to the kain wiron, a defining Javanese garment. It tapers gracefully from hip to hem, creating an illusion of height. Besides artisanal technique, utmost patience is required to achieve the perfect vertical folds. The neat folds, which resemble a fan, hold both philosophical and sartorial sensibility in the same breath. It expands the wearer’s strides, prioritising comfort while respectfully maintaining her modesty.

Cultural exchange through marriage, trade and travel eventually brought the kain wiron to the rest of the Nusantara.

The Batik Wiron Skirt is frequently kept as an heirloom piece, a treasure to have and to hold.

Anakha is wearing size S. Her measurements are 30" bust, 26" waist, 36" hips, 178cm. The skirt will end at the ankles for anyone 170cm and below.

The Sawunggaling is a mythical bird that is half peacock and half rooster. In classical batik philosophy, it represents the qualities of each bird — beauty, prosperity, luck and resilience. Merak is a remarkably intricate piece, with every motif carefully painted by hand. Each Merak piece takes approximately 14 days to craft.

Silk screen batik with hand painted motifs on 100% mercerised cotton. Fully lined.

Hand wash on cold to retain its colours and beauty. Machine washable in a laundry bag at 30° max on a gentle cycle. Always turn garment inside out before washing.
