The Surya series feature beautifully crafted hand stamped batik, inspired by old Tionghua batik-work known as Lok Can. It bears the sacred hong bird, also known as the phoenix. Here, the phoenix is seen flying close to the sun, with lush flora filling up the spaces in between. This could very well refer to the sacred belief that the mythical bird symbolises virtue, achievement and prosperity.
The Lok Can was historically first made in East Java in the 19th Century, as hand drawn batik on silk in shades of blue and red only. Today Lok Can batik continue to use silk, silk alternatives or soft primissima cotton. The base is commonly white to signify purity, while the colours of its motifs may now vary. -
The jacket is fully lined for a luxurious feel, yet lightweight enough for any day of the week. Features drop shoulders, 7/8 sleeves and two pockets at the front. Hand wash on cold to retain its colours and beauty.
- Batik is 100% primissima cotton
- Lining is 100% cotton -
